Cockshutt 1600

This tractor again was built by Oliver. The first series of 1600 were built in 1961 and 1962, the second series in 1963 and 1964. By  1961 Oliver claimed they had for 25 years built 6 cylinder farm tractors. The 1600 was available in row-crop and standard and offered diesel, LP and gasoline powered Waukesha engines. The price  tag in 1964 was $5000. The diesel produced 47 hp. on the drawbar. It followed the Super 88 and was in late 1964 replaced by the 1650. Our 1600 is the first series, # 129 174 607 produced in 1962.Ours is a gasoline model with the 231 cubic inch engine.  When we bought this tractor at \Shilo , Manitoba the engine was seized, so we spent considerable time on it. We also gave it a coat of paint and replaced the rear rubber as well as removing the front  end loader.
