John Deere 830

The John Deere 830 was built in 1958, 1959 and 1960.It replaced the 820. It was the biggest 2 cylinder tractor built as well as the last 2  cylinder  models built before the new generation tractors emerged. In late 1960 the 4010 replaced the 830. The large 2 cylinder engine had a displacement of 471 cubic inches and produced  70 hp on the drawbar. On the 830 there was a choice of two starters, a 24 volt electric starter or a 4 cylinder gasoline pony start motor. The transmission had 6 forward  gears and 1 reverse. Our 830 came from Swan Lake. It had both engines overhauled before we bought it. It is serial number #8300716. It was built in late 1958.  This is the tractor I took on the 3 rd annual  Tractor Trek and it ran fine.
